Is Mario Balotelli a victim of sexual discrimination?

Newspapers have reported widely the possibility of Mr. Ballotelli, a premiership footballer, taking two weeks paternity leave for the birth of his child in italy. However, many newspapers have reported on the possible anger his manager would have if he made such a request and then his club has issued a statement where they state he has made no such request... At present.

Is this the club indicating that he has stated when asked he will not be taking leave or simply stating the facts? Could it be that Balotelli as a result of the media coverage and his clubs statement would feel he should not or couldn't take paternity leave because it would upset his club/manager?
