the equal pay act basically gives men and woman the right to get an equal amount of pay if the do the same job. the act covers how much the people are paid and the benefits the get such as extra pay.
without the equal pay actit would be legal to pay a man more money than a woman that does the same job or give them more benefits or to even hire a man that is worse at the job simply because the employer did not want to hire a woman. With the act in place women recieve equal pay and recieve the same benefits as men that work in the same job. it is illegal to even be rude to a woman to a workplace while just leaving the men alone as this is a direct attack a a woman while the men are left alone.
