Mark Zuckerberg fact file

Name: Mark Zuckerberg

Nationality: American

Occupation: Chairman and CEO of Facebook

Known for: world’s second youngest billionaire

Net Worth: $9.4 billion (2012)

College years

He later attended Harvard University, majoring in computer science and psychology.

He wrote a program called Facemash as a "fun" project, letting students on the college's network vote on other students' photo attractiveness. With the help of friends, he took Facebook to other campuses nationwide and soon after moved to Palo Alto, California. By 2007, Zuckerberg was a billionaire at the age of 23. By the time he began classes at Harvard, he had already achieved a "reputation as a programming prodigy.

Mark’s failures during his life

It took just under 2 weeks for Mark Zuckerberg to fall well off the 40 richest billionaires list.

The company's shares fell to $28.18 today, down from the $38 IPO price from May 18th, easily the biggest failure for an IPO of this nature in the last decade.

Zurckerbeg, for his part, has been losing about $16 million per hour of his fortune, which now stands at $14.4 billion. Of course, Zuckerberg still remains extremely, extremely rich, and has zero complaints, but his fortune has declined in the last week by a figure that is equal to the annual GDP of more than 20 countries on earth.

What calculated risks did Mark take?

Marks calculated risks were that he was a young college boy he didn’t think perfectly about what people like and what they don’t like so he could’ve failed badly. Mark knew how to overcome the risks perfectly. People could have not liked the idea because he didn’t make a questionnaire to ask the college students.

Why is he so successful?

Mark Zuckerberg had big dreams and wonderful plans. He envisioned a worldwide project that will be worth billions of dollars. Yet, he started small. His humble beginning didn’t discourage him; he didn’t despise the days of little beginning. Instead of waiting for the million-dollar funding or startup capital; he started from his dormitory with little capital and sweat equity. But today; he’s among the youngest billionaires in the world. Never be ashamed to start from the scratch because building a business from scratch is where the glory lies.

  1. Good research here Mahmoud but consider which parts are showing your own analysis and judgments? If this is mainly information and not your discussion of the information than you are working below your level. When it comes to failures and risks consider how he nearly got expelled and got embroiled in legal battles.
